Urban League plans Ruby Bridges Rock Trail, seeks contributions

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (JOURNAL GAZETTE) - The Fort Wayne Urban League is asking for the community’s help with a Ruby Bridges Rock Trail.

The nonprofit organization will be collecting painted rocks through June 1 to add to a rock trail that will wrap around the Urban League campus. The trail project, with funding from both the Wilson Foundation and SEED Fort Wayne, is designed to be encouraging, a news release said.

“The Race Card Project” highlights people’s thoughts on the word ‘race’

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Wednesday at the Fort Wayne Urban League, more than 300 cards were displayed on the wall.On the cards, people wrote six-word sentences on what comes to their mind when they hear the word “race”. “It is a challenge,” Aisha Arrington said. “We hear a lot that sometimes it’s really difficult to come up with your six words.” Aisha Arrington is president of the Fort Wayne Urban League.
