Emergency Rental Assistance Program
1. Introduction
a. This program is funded by an anonymous donor who is seeking to help community members with rental assistance.
b. Goal of the program: to provide rental assistance to help prevent eviction for residents and gain an agreement that applicant has taken measures to gain income toward rent/mortgage. And Landlord or Mortgage institution will agree not to delay or not move forward with eviction of foreclosure.
2. Program Outline
a. Step 1: Collect contact information including: participants name, phone number, and email address.
b. Step 2: All applications will be sent to the participants email address. If they do not have an email address or access to the internet a copy of the application can be picked up at the Fort Wayne Urban League. 2135 S Hanna St
c. Step 3: All applicants MUST complete the entire intake form and email/fax/drop off to FWUL program specialist. The person running the assistance program will also need to make sure that the applicants landlord information is on the form so they can contact them to confirm the amount needed in rental assistance.
d. Once application is approved, the program specialist will create a file for the applicant and document the information into a data tracking sheet to be given to the FWUL finance manager. If documentation is not filed properly and reported to finance manager a check can not be written.
3. DISCLAIMERS
a. This is a one (1) time payment per calendar year.
b. Rental Assistance applicants can only submit one application per program year.
c. All participants who are approved must be documented on the designated spreadsheet.
If it is not documented, they do not receive rental assistance
d. FWUL Board/Employee and family members are NOT eligible for this program.
e. Landlords must send documentation that confirms the amount of rental assistance needed to prevent eviction.
